Tara Moffett practices in the areas of Education Law with a focus on special education, disability law including Americans with Disabilities Act and accommodation issues, and general education issues.  She is experienced in the field of special education, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.  Her practice in special education has included consultation, mediation, litigation and appellate work in state administrative proceedings and federal court.  She is a frequent presenter on special education law and current issues affecting students with disabilities.  Ms. Moffett also provides guidance and training to school districts on general education matters such as confidentiality of student records, residency status and discipline.


She is admitted to practice in New York and is a member of the New York State Bar Association and serves on its Committee on Issues Affecting Individuals with Disabilities. 

A graduate of the University at Albany, she received her law degree from Albany Law School of Union University where she completed a concentration in international law and received the Disabilities Law Clinic Prize. 

Ms. Moffett is a board member of the Albany YMCA and a former board member for both the Scotia-Glenville Children’s Museum and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  She is a member of the Capital Leadership Class of 2004, the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce Capital Leadership Alumni Association, and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, John F. Kennedy Chapter. She also serves as an adjunct instructor for Empire State College Forum East.
