As a significant part of our litigation practice, Girvin & Ferlazzo accepts assignments from a number of private and municipal insurance firms in defense of their insureds. Through such assignments, we have successfully defended our clients in a wide variety of litigation matters, from personal injury claims to complex civil rights suits involving First Amendment issues, housing discrimination, voting rights, employment discrimination, and workplace harassment. We are authorized to receive defense appointments from the New York Insurance Liquidation Bureau, the New York Municipal Insurance Reciprocal, the New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal, and a number of other companies.  We have also represented a number of parties in these areas that were not assigned through insurance firms.

By effectively managing the discovery process and pursuing motion practice, we are often able to achieve the early dismissal of some or all of the claims brought against our clients.
