Jay E. Girvin, Esq. and Patrick J. Fitzgerald, Esq. Continue in their Roles as Adjunct Professors for Sage Graduate School’s Esteves School of Education
Jay E. Girvin, Esq. and Patrick J. Fitzgerald  of Girvin and Ferlazzo, P.C., will be co-teaching the course “Law, Policy, Values: Decisions, Planning and Change”, at Sage Graduate School’s Esteves School of Education’s.  The class, offered in the Summer and Fall of 2016, will be part of the curriculum for the School of Education’s “Education Leadership” program.   The Education Leadership program is designed for current and future school district leadership professionals seeking to expand their knowledge of current educational issues and develop their education system leadership skills.  Those candidates who complete the program will earn a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.).   Through the Course, Adjunct Professors Girvin and Fitzgerald will examine the multiple facets of law, regulations, and policy impacting the education system in New York State.  The coursework will include the governance arenas of the open meetings law and executive sessions, human resources, collective bargaining, student issues, technology issues, and lawsuits, policy formation, adoption, dissemination, and revision.  Students taking the course can expect to acquire a deeper understanding of the laws surrounding the student domain, including bullying, discipline and harassment, gain a deeper understanding of the system leader’s role in policy development and implementation, and understand the system leader’s role in collective bargaining negotiations and contract management.
